What is psychodynamic psychotherapy and how does it work?
This approach is based on the premise that human behavior and relationships are shaped by conscious and unconscious influences.
Given that, at every point in therapy we are asking, “What does it mean that this person, with their unique history and concerns, is doing or saying this particular thing at this time? How might their past experiences be impacting their life now? What are the unspoken expectations and underlying beliefs that are limiting their potential for satisfaction?”
Our conversations are designed to assist the person in answering these questions.
“The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time, but in their significance to ourselves, they find their own order… the continuous thread of revelation.”
— Eudora Welty
